range of worktops to suit every style & budget. We have produced a brief
summary of their features,
together with a guide on costs. Each section has links that you can follow to
view further information, including online brochures etc.
Consider also using a 100mm Upstands behind your worktops instead of tiles on
the wall, for a great look. See Glass splashbacks too at the foot of this page.
Note: Guide prices are not just supply, but include full installation by our
own craftsmen. They are a "guide" only, ask for a quote on your
design.

LAMINATES
come in a huge variety of colours and designs. They are very affordable,
costing from as little as £80 per metre fully installed. Smooth
and textured surfaces are available, as well as High Gloss. Matching
upstands & splashbacks are also available. We offer the full Bushboard
range.
For: A wide range of colours & textures. Inexpensive. No
special care. Easy to clean and install.
Against: Not as durable as Granite. Deep scratches can show
although colour-matched repair products are available. Limited shapes
& special detailing. Curves do not look as good as in Granite, Encore
& Hardwoods, as edging is difficult. But very practical &
economic.
Maintenance: - Very low maintenance. Clean with mild
detergent.
Durability: - Resistant to most stains and chemicals, and to most
heat. Not suitable as a cutting surface. Use protection for very hot
items.
Flexibility & Fitting: - Relatively easy to install. Hard to
achieve shapes & curves.
Price per linear metre: - Prices start from £80 per linear

ENCORE Solid Surface Worktops from Bushboard
provide the beauty of a solid surface worktop with silky smooth feel &
lines & seamless hidden joins & edging treatment. The look of
Corian, without the high price tag.
Encore features a 5mm reinforced compression moulded acrylic face on a
dense chipboard substrate. Heat resistant up to 240 degrees Celsius & guaranteed
for 10 years.
For: Hard-wearing, heat resistant and long-lasting. Seamless
joins & edging.
Against: Higher cost than laminate.
Upkeep: - Clean once a week using "Countertop
Magic" polish as part of your normal Kitchen cleaning regime. See
maintenance guide pdf.
Durability: - Carries manufactures 10 year guarantee. Heat
resistant up to 240 degrees Celsius. Use chopping boards, but surface
scratches if they occur can be polished out.
Flexibility & Fitting: - Needs to be installed with a high degree
of skill & care. But shapes & curves can be easily edged to create
great designs. Can accommodate undermounted sinks & drainer grooves.
Price per linear metre: - Prices from around £200.00 per linear
metre fully installed.

HARDWOODS
are a popular choice as they blend in well with country-style kitchens and
add a natural element to high-tech designs. Perfect with High Gloss Slab
doors! Choose from solid hardwoods
like Oak, Walnut, Teak, & Iroko which can be stained in various
shades.
For: Hard-wearing and long-lasting. Stains watermarks and signs
of wear and tear can be sanded out and will usually disappear when the
surface is re-oiled.
Against: Spills should be kept to a minimum, some stains can show
on lighter woods and if left water can cause damage. Use of cutting boards
essential. Oiled finishes need to be renewed periodically. With care, no
problem.
Upkeep: - Wipe up spills instantly to prevent staining. Once
established, seal with Danish oil quarterly to stop drying out. Scratches
can be sanded out with fine wire wool.
Sealing Hardwoods require an initial programme of sealing using
oil, which we apply on installation. Thereafter apply Oil once a week for
the next month, then once a month for a year.
Durability: - If hardwoods are properly sealed and maintained
they will last for a long time, but don't use the worktop as a chopping
board, or place hot pans directly onto the wood, as it can scorch.
Flexibility & Fitting: - Wood is very easy to cut into shapes
& curves.

Worktops from Second Nature

GRANITE
is a luxury material that never falls out of fashion and suits traditional
and modern styles. Choose from a classic polished finish, or a honed matt
for a more contemporary look. Add a 100mm Upstand instead of wall tiles?
Upkeep: - Very low maintenance. Clean using a damp cloth and a
mild detergent.
Durability: - The best of all the natural materials, it
can withstand high temperatures, is water resistant and impervious to most
stains, but wine and citric acids must be cleaned up at once. Darker/Black
based Granites are much denser & harder than lighter colours. Star
Galaxy & Nero Impala are two of our most popular choices.
Flexibility & Fitting: All of our Granite installations are
carried out by a specialist team. It involves templating on site once base
units are in place. The Granite is then cut & machined in the factory
before installation, usually 3 days later.
Price per linear metre: - Prices start from around £230 per
linear metre* plus £529 delivery, fitting & installation. (* Based on
2no. 3m x 600mm worktops with sink & hob cut outs in Nero Impala.
Undermount sinks, shapes etc to quote)

SPLASHBACKS & UPSTANDS are a great way to add colour & style to a
Kitchen, and are highly practical & easy to keep clean.
We have a wide selection of great colours
& can arrange for splashbacks to be made to order to any size, shape or
